„participation – now!“ – Final Conference in Lodz:
back to previous page ...
What can young Europeans learn from the past to use it for a common future? This was one question by the topic group “civil and education”. Together with politicians they discussed several options to make young people more sensitive for historical circumstances in Europe. The committed youngsters had the idea to create a train of remembrance, which should start at Auschwitz and on several stops in different countries, speeches with youngsters and politicians about European History and a common future could take place.
“We need a platform, where young people of different European Countries can join for a change in their way!” This statement was taken on the final plenary at the end of the conference in Lodz of members in the group “youth participation”. They created an idea to develop a topic based conference which allows more countries with smaller youth delegations to take part. They proposed a mix of cities with an existing youth council and towns which haven’t one.
By the group “space for youth” the idea of an international youth cultural event with skaters, sprayers, dancers and bikers was born. The participants explained the politicians the situation of the three cities and gave also information what they like to change in their area and what kind of possibilities they saw to learn from other cities.
The next step would be to start up an initiative with youngsters of all three cities with an application by the European Union to get financial resources to develop and realize this idea. All results and details are shown here:
